Visitor Visa
A Canada Visitor Visa, also known as a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), is an official document issued by the Canadian government that allows a foreign national to enter Canada temporarily for purposes such as tourism, business, or visiting family and friends. The visitor visa is required for citizens of certain countries and is typically valid for short stays—usually up to six months. If you are approved for a visitor visa, you’ll be allowed to stay in Canada temporarily, with the potential for extension depending on your circumstances. Always ensure that you follow the rules associated with your visitor visa, as overstaying or violating the terms can result in serious consequences for future travel to Canada.

Business Visitor
The Business Visitor Visa is an excellent option for individuals who need to come to Canada temporarily for business purposes without engaging in the Canadian labor market. Business visitors to Canada may require a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). By following the proper application process and providing the necessary documentation, you can gain entry into Canada to attend meetings, conferences, trade shows, negotiate deals, or explore business opportunities. However, it’s crucial to remember that this visa is not intended for employment or direct work in Canada. Always ensure that you meet the requirements and follow the regulations to avoid complications during your visit.

Temporary Resident Visa (TRV)
Depending on your country of citizenship, you may or may not be required to obtain a visitor visa. You may also need one if you are transiting through a Canadian airport on your way to your final destination. Also, individuals who wish to enter Canada for a temporary purpose, such as business, tourists, temporary foreign workers and international students must apply for and be granted a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV).

Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)
An Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is a simple and efficient entry requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals traveling to Canada by air. It is an online authorization that determines whether travelers are eligible to board a flight to Canada as airline carriers will check for an eTA before allowing you to board your flight. The eTA is linked electronically to the traveler’s passport and is valid for up to 5 years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first. It is typically used for short-term visits (tourism, business, or family visits) and does not apply to travelers arriving by land or sea.

Find out if you need a TRV before departure to Canada
The TRV is a document issued by a Canadian Immigration Visa Office outside Canada, showing that the holder has satisfied the requirements for admission to Canada as a visitor. TRVs may be for single entry or multiple entry. As a general rule, tourists are admitted for a period of six months. Temporary foreign workers and international students are admitted for varying periods of time, as determined on a case-by-case basis. Extensions may be applied for from within Canada.
It is important to note that possession of a valid TRV does not necessarily mean that the Officer at the Canadian Port of Entry will admit the visitor into Canada. At the Port of Entry, all visitors must demonstrate that the purpose of their visit to Canada is of a temporary nature. Officers at the Port of Entry will deny admission to all persons who, in their opinion, do not intend to leave Canada at the expiry of their visitor status.
